Victorian Cycling Strategy

The Victorian Cycling Strategy (2009) aims to increase the number of people walking and cycling in Melbourne by 15,000 and significantly grow cycling in the rest of Victoria by 2020.

The Victorian Cycling Strategy is based on five strategic directions:

  1.     Build networks to connect communities
  2.     Promote and encourage a cycling culture
  3.     Reduce risks for cyclists
  4.     Better integrate cycling with public transport
  5.     Integrate cycling into land use planning

The Victorian Cycling Strategy Report Card (PDF, 555 KB, 2 pp.) details the actions in the 12 months following the launch of the Strategy in April 2009 to develop cycling as a safe and appealing transport mode.
