NSW 2009/10 Household Travel Survey (Australia)

In August 2011 the Bureau of Transport Statistics (BTS) from the New South Wales Department of Transport released the 2009/10 Household Travel Survey Summary Report. This publication is a compilation of annual statistics on the travel behaviour of Sydney residents produced from the Bureau of Transport Statistics’ continuous Household Travel Survey (HTS).

The report indicates bicycle ownership is increasing but little other bicycle mode share information is provided. There is however a wealth of information regarding other modes including that the majority of trips (61%) were five kilometres or less in 2009/10.

On an average weekday in 2009/10 Sydney residents made 16.2 million trips and of these:
