NSW Metropolitan Transport Plan - Connecting the City of Cities

This plan was published in 2010.  Integrated with the Metropolitan Plan for Sydney 2036, the strategy sims to effectively link Sydney's land use planning with its transport network.

The Metropolitan Plan, integrated with the Metropolitan Transport Plan, outlines the government’s commit to deliver transport solutions that match Sydney’s population and employment needs, and supports economic growth.

The NSW Government views land use and transport planning as two halves of a whole which will ensure we get maximum value from existing and planned transport, and reduce the need for car travel. It also means supporting job growth in centres and concentrating development in existing and planned areas close to public transport capacity.

The plan aims to encourage public transport usage wherever possible.

A 10-year funding guarantee will boost the delivery of the principles of the Metropolitan Plan and support long-term transport planning to meet Sydney's challenges to 2036.
