ETRA's E-Bike Type Approval Draft Discussed at European Parliament

BRUSSELS, Belgium – Last week, the European Parliamentary Committee for Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) discussed the European Two-Wheelers Retailers Association’s (ETRA) working document on the review of the type-approval procedure for, among them e-bikes.



The draft report is scheduled for the sessions on 13 and 14 April. A public hearing on the review of the type-approval is announced for 22 March but still needs to be officially confirmed.



The draft report follows a proposal for a review of the type-approval procedure published on 4 October 2010 by the European Commission. Unfortunately, their draft does not provide an appropriate solution either. The final decision on the new type-approval lies with the European Parliament and the Council.
