Perth's population is predicted to reach two million by the year 2029. One of the major challenges for transport planning will be to minimise the predicted growth in vehicle traffic. The State Government recognises the growing importance of alternatives to private motor vehicles. Programs and initiatives are being introduced which will promote access options including cycling, walking and telecommuting.
