The South Australian Government has produced 14 cycling maps covering the Adelaide metropolitan area from Gawler in the north to Willunga in the south and from the coast to the hills. Bikedirect is a network of bicycle routes across the Adelaide metropolitan area that was developed to encourage cycling. The Bikedirect maps provide options for people with different needs and abilities and show main roads, bicycle lanes, local streets and off-road paths.

This web-based series has been designed so users can print each map on a standard A3 or A4 printer. Better aerial photography has improved the portrayal of the Bikedirect network, in particular off-road path locations.
New facilities and changes shown in the July 2011 edition maps include:
opening of Gallipoli Drive, Regency Park, linking to Grand Junction Road, Regency Road and a significant shared use path running north-south between Regency Road and Pym St, Dudley Park
addition of over 2km of sealed shared use path paralleling Lonsdale Road between Lander Road, Sheidow Park and Oval Road, Hallett Cove - it also intersects the Coast to Vines Trail
addition of over 2.5km of unsealed shared use path at Hewett, paralleling the North Para River
addition of some of the Mitcham mountain bike & hike trails
new off-road shared use paths paralleling Golden Grove Road, Modbury Heights and Martins Road, Salisbury improving cycling connections through Kingfisher Reserve along the Little Para River Linear Park
shared use path extended along Sportsmans Drive, West Lakes
shared use path extended along Beach Road connecting to the Noarlunga Centre and the public transport interchange
on-road bicycle lanes on:
Peachey Road, Davoren Park
Barton Terrace, North Adelaide
Grange Road, Seaton and Henley Beach
Victoria Road, Taperoo
Closure of the King Street Bridge, Glenelg North and Holland St Bridge, Hindmarsh.
As improvements are made to the network, they will be regularly reflected on the web-based Bikedirect map series.
