2009 Bicyclists and Other Cyclists Traffic Safety Facts Sheet

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has released a facts sheet that explores 2009 bicyclist safety statistics. During 2009, 630 bicyclists were killed and an additional 51,000 were injured in motor vehicle traffic crashes.

For the purpose of the fact sheet, bicyclists and other cyclists include riders of two-wheel nonmotorized vehicles, tricycles, and unicycles powered solely by pedals.
