Streetfilms influence extends well beyond its website. Nearly thirty city or state transportation offices in the U.S. have requested and used our work. And the big number: Streetfilms have now been viewed over 2.5 million times - a remarkable achievement in the narrow genre we exist within.

BEAUTY AND THE BIKE
26th Oct 2010
Beauty and the Bike is a project established by Darlington Media Group in 2008 to explore more deeply the reasons why girls stop cycling in the UK. We began with a small group of teenagers and young women in the northern English town of Darlington, most of whom did not cycle on a regular basis. They told us why - cycling is not cool, friends don’t cycle, it isn’t safe, and not very pleasant. The lack of cool had a lot to do with the image of the lycra and helmet clad nerd, so dear to the risk assessment world of official UK cycling promotion.

Why? To bring about the momentum for better cycle routes in our cities, and demonstrate that there is a groundswell of great people wanting to ride.
To lure SUV drivers to thinking that bikes are actually a sexier and much more fabulous way to get around.
