Each day, millions of trips are made for employment purposes. The overwhelming majority of these journeys are taken by car – with subsequent congestion, pollution and parking problems. Bicycling, especially for short trips, is an excellent alternative. Governments and an increasing number of businesses and their employees are realising the benefits of this healthy, pollution and stress free form of travel.

In 2011 the Heart Foundation produced a series of resources to assist workplaces to develop a workplace wellness program. Workplace wellness programs can cover a broad range of health areas including nutrition, physical activity, smoking cessation and/or stress management to improve the health and well being of all staff.
