About the Site

The Cycling Resource Centre is an Australian information hub on all things related to cycling.

The site is admininstered by the Australian Bicycle Council (ABC) which consists of representatives of state, territory and local governments, the cycling industry and bicycle users.

The ABC coordinates and implementats the Australian National Cycling Strategy 2011-2016 and reports on its implementation to Australian Transport ministers. The operational support for the ABC is provided by Austroads, the association of Australian and NZ road transport and traffic authorities.

The Cycling Resource Centre resources will be of interest to a wide audience including:

  • engineers and planners employed by local councils and private consulting firms
  • other employees and elected representatives of local councils
  • engineering and planning academics and students
  • health and community service professionals
  • educators
  • emergency services professionals
  • event managers
  • tourism operators
  • Austroads member and affiliated organisations
  • Material selected for the Cycling Resource Centre aims to be of high quality, up-to-date, provide good coverage of issues and be from reliable sources. Focusing mostly on Australian content, overseas content is used particularly where Australian resources are lacking. Commercial or personal web-sites which contain a large amount of promotional or advertising material are excluded unless cited as case studies or if they provide information of outstanding value.
