  • North South Shared Use Trail - Tasmania
The North-South Track is a shared use track for mountain bikers and bush-walkers which specifically provides for mountain bike access. The impetus for building the track developed in response to the growth in mountain biking on the Mountain.  There was also a need to provide designated tracks for mountain bike riders to avoid conflict with bush-walkers.  In particular, there was a need for mountain biking access from Shoobridge Bend, on the Pinnacle Road, to Junction Cabin.  Stage 1 of the North-South Track will provide this. From Junction Cabin, riders can choose from a number of existing trails to continue their journey.

  • Vorb
Vorb started in 2000 as a stupid in-joke amongst a group of friends who were having difficulty organising mountain bike rides together. Shortly after it's birth they all got really good at organising mountain bike rides together and went riding, a lot. The website was started in November 2000 by Tama Easton as a place to put stories and photos from their trips. In early 2001 it escaped into the public realm, got mentioned on TV, had a bunch of people visit it and Tama got excited, drank some V, sat down, started coding and proceeded to work way too hard on growing Vorb.

  • The Redwoods - Whakarewarewa Forest - Mountain Bikeing
The Whakarewarewa Forest has one of the oldest mountain bike networks in the country. These master crafted trails are an unbeatable blend of riding surfaces, topography and scenery. With around 90km of continually evolving trails, there is something to cater for all levels of rider, from beginners and family groups through to experts looking for extreme action.
The trails weave their way through lush native ferns beneath soaring forest canopies of Redwood, Radiata, Douglas Fir, Eucalyptus and Larch. Riders are often afforded glimpses of Rotorua’s beautiful lakes, geothermal activity and brooding Mt. Tarawera. It is no wonder Rotorua is renowned among mountain bikers as the location for a huge range of premier mountain biking events such as the 2006 World Mountain Bike & Trails Champs, the Single Speed Nationals in 2008 and the annual 12 and 24 hours Cateye Moonride, Xterra and N-Duro Winter MTB Series to name but a few.

  • Mountain Unicycling: Amazing Stunts on Just One Wheel (Video)
Sami Grover, 28 December 2009, USA: TreeHugger - Cars & Transportation (bikes)
When I posted a video of unicycling on the streets of Manhattan, responses ranged from outrage at the disregard for road rules, through to wonder and amazement. Yet while we've featured an electric unicycle, and even a tandem unicycle, one-wheeled human powered transport remains viewed by most as more of a curiosity than a viable mode of transportation. But maybe we've got it wrong.
