Research to explore perceptions and experiences of Bikeability training amongst parents and children (UK)

In 2010 the UK Department of Transport released a report exploring attitudes towards cycling; current cycling behavior; and, awareness of, participation in, and experience of “bikeability.” Launched in 2007, Bikeability is the government’s flagship cycle training program, designed to give people the skills and confidence to ride on roads. The Bikeability programme is available to people of all ages. This research, however, focuses only on the experience of children in school years 5 and 6, garnering feedback from both children and their parents.

Bike SA has delivered the Way2Go Bike Ed program since 1995 in South Australia. During that time there have been over 80,000 students in years 4, 5, 6 & 7 that have participated successfully in Way2Go Bike Ed.
